One complete task: from photo to quote

You can use the two tools separately or one after the other. This walkthrough suits, for example, someone selling a product who needs a ready photo and a price to send.

  1. Pick a ratio and check the safe area

Open the product photo and try a ratio (for example 4:5 for a portrait post). Turn on the safe area guide to see whether text or the product sits near an edge. It is an approximate guide: check the current requirements of the platform where you will publish.

    Open the image editor ↗
  2. Download the image to your device

Choose format and quality, then download the file. The image is opened and processed in your browser; MaatWork does not receive it.

  3. Work out the price with margin or markup

Enter cost, expenses and quantity. Choose margin if the percentage should be a share of the selling price, or markup if you want to add it to cost: they give different prices.

    Open the quote builder ↗
  4. Review the discount

If you offer a discount, read the breakdown: profit and realized margin drop compared with the undiscounted price.

  5. Save the quote

Print the result or save it as a PDF from your browser. The share link opens the tool and does not include the quote values; if you send the PDF through another service, check its currency, terms and taxes first, which the builder does not add.

A small end-to-end example

A 2400 × 1600 px photo and a product that costs 100 (one unit, no other expenses). The amounts are illustrative.

Example walkthrough with a photo and a price
StepResultHow it is derived
4:5 ratio1280 × 1600 pxCenter crop: full height is kept
Price with 20% markup120.00100 + 20% of 100
Price with 20% margin125.00100 ÷ (1 − 0.20)
10% discount on 125112.50125 − 12.50
Profit and realized margin12.50 · 11.11%112.50 − 100 and 12.50 ÷ 112.50

With the same 20%, the price depends on whether it is margin or markup, and the discount lowers the real margin. Try it with your own numbers in the quote builder.
